FAQ
Q: I work for DFAS-Cleveland and do not know which EBIZ codes to use
A: Unless told otherwise, use DFAS EBIZ codes:
Function Code - GK000 (Training)
Task Code - GTRAIN00
Q: Is DFAS-Cleveland going to fund the conference?
A: Funding is up to the individual offices in DFAS-Cleveland. Please check with your manager concerning funding issues.
Q: What is the registration process?
A: You must complete the registration form and send it to the AGA mailbox. You must also pay the conference fee in order to register. The registration process is provided in more detail here.
Q: How can I confirm that my registration went through?
A: You will be notified via e-mail when you are registered or you may contact one of the following to verify:
Joshua Miller (AGA-Event Chair)
(216) 204-6808
Francisco Rivera-Hernandez (ASMC-Event Chair)
francisco.rivera-hernandez@dfas.mil
(216) 204-6603
Kim Carpenter (ASMC-Event Chair)
(216) 204-1617
Q: Something came up and I cannot attend.
A: Inform your supervisor and then send an e-mail to events@asmc-cleveland.org. If someone is taking your place, let us know so we can remove your name from our list and have them fill out the registration form.
Q: My organization cannot pay for my attendance to the conference until afterwards. Will this be a problem?
A: No one will be admitted to the conference without payment. You may bring payment with you (cash or check). If you show up with no payment and payment was not made in advance, you will not be granted access to the conference.
Q: I have several interns who are shadowing members of our office and would like to attend the conference but will not be earning CPEs and will not stay for lunch. Can I bring them?
A: Due to capacity limitations and the contract with the Wolstein Center, only individuals who paid for the conference fee can attend.
Q: I see that ASMC/AGA is giving out scholarships. What do I need to do to be considered and apply for these scholarships?
A: ASMC/AGA are providing joint scholarships that will be awarded at the conclusion of the conference. To learn more about the scholarships available by ASMC and AGA, please visit the ASMC Cleveland scholarships page here.
Q: I noticed past recipients of scholarships do not work for the government. Why are these individuals getting scholarships?
A: With exception to scholarships that are specifically available to either ASMC or AGA members, all other scholarships are available to anyone who meets the minimum requirements. It is not a requirement to work for the government and therefore no preferential treatment is given to government workers. Also, no preferential treatment is given to an ASMC or AGA member unless the particular scholarship specifies so. For more information on scholarships click here.
Q: Why are so many of the sessions geared to DFAS employees?
A: While we realize we have a diverse group of individuals from the private sector attending these seminars, the majority of attendees are Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) employees or are employeed by another government agency. We attempt to schedule sessions that are appropriate for anyone in a financial management or similar community.
Q: I noticed some introducers wearing Bluetooth devices, is this really necessary?
A: Yes it is. We have several key volunteers working the floor who may need to be reached for items requiring immediate attention. Finding anyone quickly at a crowded conference is never easy and it is nearly impossible to hear a cell phone ring or feel it vibrate so the Bluetooth device is a solution for us to stay in constant communication with these individuals so we may serve you better.
Q: When will I get my certificate stating I earned 8 CPEs?
A: CPE certificates will be given out the day of the event.
Q: Why do I see some of the same speakers back for another year?
A: Some "repeat" speakers are asked back again because people rated their session high and some attendees even requested the speaker participate at future events.
